From the Ground Up
The Roots of Leafy Analytics come from Dark Horse Ag Ventures where Tyler Lefley and Garrett Fraser are part of a great team that is bringing digital Ag solutions to farmers across North America. With their experience and knowledge in AgTech, Tyler and Garrett have developed several technologies for problems they have seen first hand. Leafy Analytics is designed around a soil residual herbicide assay that uses plant phenotyping technology to assess yield loss potential before crop plans are set in stone
What's special about Leafy Analytics?
Physical Biology
Our test for herbicide carry over incorporates plant performance comparisons between >20 species of plants. We test the impact on every crop grown on your farm and our results aren’t just a number you don’t know how to interpret
Digital Results
You don’t just get a number on a pdf, we send you all data summaries collected from IOT sensors for growth condition justification and time lapses
We know your business
We have the years of boots on the ground experience to understand how much of a problem herbicide carry over has become in cropping systems across Western Canada.
Specialized Experience
We talk to plants everyday and Tyler almost has his PhD a.k.a be a doctor that doesn’t treat people
why choose us?
Value
Residual herbicide is becoming an increasing problem with Western Canadian climate swings. If you’re seeing signs of damage it’s already too late. A simple test impacts >200x the $ value in risk managed assets on the farm.
Have the data to make major decisions
Thinking about renting a bunch of new land? Have the data to say you aren’t limited to a sub par crop before you even bring a tractor into the field.
Risk
Management
The purpose of Leafy Analytics is to serve farmers within Canada by providing them with the concrete physical evidence required to make or keep changes in their crop plans based on herbicide carry over before it’s too late. Adding herbicide damage to multifactorial plant stress responses compounds yield losses which can be mitigated by using our assay technology.

The Process
Collect 10 L of topsoil
Collect topsoil from areas suspected to have high herbicide carry over. A digital model for identifying prone areas on the farm is in the pipeline for future development
Grow lots of plants
We use plants as our bio sensitivity indicators for herbicide carry over in your sample
Collect and Analyze results
We collect all the data and analyze it to show what herbicide group(s) present are causing damage and provide cropping recommendations so you can maximize ROI.
